Electrical Contractor for Churches and Institutions
Modern systems in buildings that were not designed for them, finished before Sunday.
Church and institutional buildings tend to be old, loved and in constant use. The sanctuary has to look right for a service, the fellowship hall has to handle a full kitchen on a holiday, and the wiring behind the plaster may be older than anyone on the committee.
ThreeCo brought modern electrical systems to Country Club Christian Church, a historic Kansas City campus, with care for the existing architecture. Church and institutional work is one of the building types we have worked in recently.
The sanctuary
Sanctuary lighting is set for moments: full light for a wedding, a lowered house for a sermon or a concert, the chancel lit while the pews fall back. That needs dimming that behaves at low levels and scenes someone can recall without a lighting technician on hand.
Sound, projection and streaming equipment want clean, dedicated power where the booth and the platform are, and the cable routes between them are easier to plan with the lighting than after it.
- Sanctuary and chancel lighting with dimming and preset scenes
- Dedicated circuits for sound, projection and streaming equipment
- Fellowship hall and kitchen power for large gatherings
- Exterior, steeple and parking lighting for evening services
Older buildings
Historic churches often carry several generations of wiring at once. Updating them means finding routes for new circuits through plaster, stone and decorative ceilings without leaving scars, and deciding which original fixtures to keep and adapt rather than replace.
Seven churches in one season
Between August and early October 2026 ThreeCo worked for seven churches — in Kansas City, MO, Olathe, Overland Park, Emporia (two), Silver Lake and Bonner Springs — most of it LED lighting. One of them is Country Club Christian Church; the other six are not named here. For the church in Silver Lake, ThreeCo filed the Evergy rebate on the retrofit as part of the job — whether a rebate pays, and how much, is Evergy's decision.
A church retrofit is usually the hall, the classrooms and the offices as much as the sanctuary: rows of fluorescent troffers that are on whenever the building is open, which is where LED pays back first.
Schedules that run around services
Weekday work in a church still has to be clean and safe by the next service, funeral or wedding. Committees and volunteers often make the decisions, so a clear written scope and a schedule that names what will be finished before each weekend matter as much as the work itself.

FAQ
Questions from church & institutional owners and managers
Can our original sanctuary fixtures be kept?
Often they can be rewired and converted rather than replaced, depending on their condition and construction. Which fixtures are worth keeping is something to walk through on site before anything is specified.
Will the sanctuary be usable on Sundays during the project?
That is normally the first thing planned. The space has to be safe and usable for services, so the work is planned around them — ask for a written schedule that says what will be finished before each weekend.
Our sound system hums. Could that be the electrical?
It can be. Hum in audio equipment often traces back to how the equipment is powered and grounded. It is worth having the circuits serving the booth and the platform looked at alongside the audio gear.
Have you worked in a historic church before?
Yes — Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, a historic campus, where modern electrical systems went in with care for the existing architecture.
