Warehouse build

Industrial-scale electrical work for a commercial warehouse build. Power distribution, lighting, and full-facility wiring delivered on schedule.

What ThreeCo did

  • Power distribution
  • Lighting
  • Full-facility wiring
  • Delivered on schedule

At the Vestis Warehouse in Kansas City, Missouri, ThreeCo did the electrical for a commercial warehouse build: the power distribution, the lighting and the wiring for the whole facility, delivered on schedule. It is the clearest example on our site of what a commercial electrician does on a warehouse from the ground up, and the photos below show the finished building in use.

Power distribution: where a warehouse build starts

On a new building, power distribution is the backbone the rest of the electrical hangs from. The utility's service comes into the building, a switchboard or main panel takes it, and feeders carry it out to the panels that serve each area and each piece of equipment. Getting that layout right early matters, because it decides how easily the building can take new loads later: more lighting, dock equipment, charging for lift trucks, a new tenant in part of the space.

This is the same work our panel and service upgrade page describes for existing buildings. On a build it is designed and installed from the start instead of retrofitted around a business that is already running.

Lighting a high-ceiling warehouse

Warehouse lighting is mostly high-bay fixtures hung in the roof structure, laid out so the aisles, the floor and the work areas are evenly lit from well overhead. The photos from Vestis show round LED high-bay fixtures mounted under the steel roof framing, lighting a floor of carts, racks and hanging conveyors below, and wall lights over each loading door outside.

If your warehouse already has high-bays and you want them replaced with LED, that is a smaller job than a full build, and it is the subject of our warehouse lighting page.

Full-facility wiring

Full-facility wiring means every circuit the building needs, not only the lights: receptacles, equipment connections, the doors and docks, the exterior, and the controls that tie the lighting together. On a build it is done alongside the other trades, which is where staying on schedule is won or lost. Rough-in has to be finished before walls and ceilings close, and the electrical has to be ready when the building is inspected.

FAQ

Questions about the Vestis Warehouse project

What did ThreeCo do at the Vestis Warehouse?

The electrical for the warehouse build: power distribution, lighting and wiring for the full facility, delivered on schedule, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Does ThreeCo only do new warehouse builds?

No. Much warehouse work is smaller than a full build: replacing the high-bay lights that are already there with LED, adding circuits for new equipment, or upgrading a panel or service. Our warehouse lighting and panel upgrade pages cover those.

Do you work on warehouses on the Kansas side too?

Yes. ThreeCo does commercial work across the Kansas City metro on both the Missouri and Kansas sides, and travels for commercial work.
