Electrical Contractor for Clinics and Medical Offices

Exam rooms, equipment circuits and lighting work in buildings where patients are still being seen.

A clinic does not close for an electrical project. Patients keep their appointments, and the staff need light good enough to examine someone by, power that stays on for the equipment, and a hallway that is never blocked by a ladder at the wrong moment.

Healthcare is one of the building types ThreeCo has worked in recently. This page is about clinics and medical offices in general terms; tell us about your building and we will tell you plainly whether it is work we take on.

What a clinic asks of its electrical system

Exam and treatment rooms need bright, even light with good color rendering, because skin tone and detail matter there in a way they do not in an office. Equipment such as imaging, sterilizers, refrigeration for medication and specimens, and computers at every station usually wants dedicated circuits rather than shared receptacles.

Corridors and exits carry emergency and egress lighting, and in an occupied clinic those paths have to stay lit and clear throughout the work.

  • Exam and treatment room lighting with good color rendering
  • Dedicated circuits for medical equipment, sterilizers and refrigeration
  • Emergency and egress lighting in corridors and at exits
  • Waiting room, reception and exterior lighting

Working in occupied space

Medical office work is usually done room by room, with dust and noise contained and with any power interruption agreed in advance so that nothing that must stay on goes off. The practice manager knows which rooms can be given up on which days, and that conversation shapes the schedule.

Moving into a new suite

When a practice moves into a new space, the electrical plan follows the equipment list — where each machine will sit and what it needs — as much as the floor plan. Getting that list early avoids a receptacle in the wrong place behind a cabinet that has already been built.

FAQ

Questions from healthcare owners and managers

Can you work while we are seeing patients?

Clinic work is normally phased room by room so the practice keeps running. Any shutdown of power is planned with you in advance, around the equipment that has to stay on.

What do you need to plan the electrical for a new medical suite?

The floor plan and the equipment list, with each item's electrical requirements. In a medical space the equipment drives the circuit layout.

Our exam room lighting is poor. What is the usual fix?

Exam rooms often still have older fluorescent fixtures. Replacing them with LED chosen for brightness and color rendering is the common fix, and it can be done one room at a time.

What if something fails after hours?

Our office hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:00pm Central. Outside those hours the emergency line is answered at a higher after-hours rate, for any customer, commercial or residential. Call (816) 730-9100.
