Electrical Contractor for Retail Stores

Lighting that sells the merchandise, and power work planned around the hours you are open.

In a store, the lighting is part of the display. It decides whether the merchandise reads true to color, whether the back wall gets noticed, and whether the lot looks open after dark. A retail electrical project is judged by how the sales floor looks when the doors open.

ThreeCo has done recent retail work in the Kansas City metro. One customer, Olathe Gun Shop, left the review on this page about new light fixtures in their store.

What a store needs from its electrical system

Retail lighting is layered: general light for the aisles, accent light on displays and feature walls, and case or cabinet lighting where the product sits behind glass. Track heads get re-aimed every time a layout changes, so the track and its circuits need to be where the floor plan is going, not only where it is today.

A sales floor has trading hours. Work that drops power or blocks an aisle is usually planned around when the store is open, and that timing is part of the scope from the first conversation.

  • General sales-floor lighting and LED retrofits of older fluorescent fixtures
  • Track and accent lighting for displays, walls and windows
  • Case and counter lighting, and the receptacles behind the point of sale
  • Exterior wall packs, canopy lighting and parking lot poles

The outside of the store

A storefront is judged from the parking lot. Wall packs over the entry, canopy lights at the door and pole lights in the lot are the first fixtures a customer sees after dark, and the ones that fail most visibly when a lamp or a photocell goes.

Amazing working with Bob's team. They did great work, cleaned up after themselves and helped me out by working around our store hours. Bob went above and beyond getting us into the light fixtures that we wanted in our store. Was very happy with the service and work.

FAQ

Questions from retail owners and managers

Can the work happen around our store hours?

When the store needs to stay open, the work is sequenced so that power and aisles are affected as little as possible during trading. Tell us your hours up front and the schedule is built around them before anything is booked.

Our display lighting makes the product look washed out. Is that the fixtures?

Often it is the light itself — the color temperature and color rendering of the lamps — rather than the amount of it. Replacing tired fluorescent or mixed lamps with consistent LED is a common fix, and it is worth deciding the look before choosing the fixture.

Do you handle the lights in the parking lot as well as inside?

Yes. Exterior wall packs, canopy lighting and parking lot poles are part of the lighting work we do for commercial properties.
